Walking with you through life’s thresholds

The journey that led me here…

Life moves in spirals. There is no true beginning or ending, only a continual returning of transformation and becoming.

I have walked with birth and death hand in hand for as long as I can remember. I witnessed my husband lose both of his parents to long illnesses, and just four months later, my father's battle with addiction came to its end.

The following summer, we were married, and not long after, we were blessed with the miracle of carrying our son, Luca.

Months later, during my second trimester, we unexpectedly lost him.

I had given birth to my son and I had given birth to death.

In that sacred and impossible space, I came to understand that birth and death are not opposites, but two thresholds of the same mystery. It is from this place that I now hold others—with reverence, compassion, and deep trust in the wisdom that exists at both the beginning and the end of life.

Abandoned by those who were supposed to be my pillars of support, I witnessed my own birth team fall short of where the general standard should land and I ended up giving birth alone at home with my husband. No support… just a few texts and an emergency hotline. Not by choice, but by my own birth-team failing me.

It was through this initiation into motherhood and a childless postpartum that no one told me existed, where my passion to change the narrative grew. With an aching body and empty womb, I a deep devotion and eager spirit, ready to carry the torch forward and change women’s birthing experiences to come — that has landed me here today.

Through extensive research and praying for over a year, I found a beautifully aligned training in Guatemala. I started to question the narrative and asked why Doula’s (and all birth-workers) are not being trained to assist and support mothers and families that will endure any stage of peri-natal loss? (ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, stillbirths, etc.)

Who supports these mothers? those babies? their bodies? Who is telling them they will still be postpartum and giving them the nourishment they deserve, without discarding their experience?

The training I attended listened through my aching, passionate heart and decided to enhance that years training to support pregnancy loss into their curriculum and I thought, “what a beautiful start” …

It was there in Guatemala, in the mountains and lakeside of Tzununá, where Mayan elders led the way. Herbalism rang through our fingertips. Birth workers from all over the world, gathered to learn, sharing the ancient practices of weaving educational learning, ritual, hands-on practice, and embodied knowing into our path, as guardians of life’s thresholds.

The continuous, birth death, life-cycle.

My training traversed through many landscapes…

Ranging from women’s anatomy, the prenatal and preconception journey, somatic birth practices, mayan lymphatic breast massage, traditional mayan abdominal womb massage, faja wrapping, rebozo support, the 8 stages of psychological birth, theta brainwave states of birth, 40 days post partum nourishment, herbal remedies, baths and how to properly provide a closing of the bones ceremony. Tending to all thresholds of life, grief, release and ritual.

We learned how to support birthing families while creating a culture of birth keeping that supports, protects and bares witness to it all.

Peri-Natal Loss Death Doula

Here, your silent ache is felt and seen.

I offer 1:1 support through the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual layers of pregnancy and infant loss. This includes miscarriage, missed miscarriage, gestational loss, stillbirth & child-loss.

Whether you have received the unfortunate news and aren’t sure what to do next, have recently experienced a loss, or are in your postpartum experience without your baby…

You deserve to be gently informed, deeply held, and supported through every phase of this experience.

This includes being educated on what to expect. The real and raw layers that many providers fail to mention, much less show up for.

The reality, is many birth keepers and medical teams are not fully equipped to tend to the complexities of loss.

There is simply a gap in education, cultural ethics, tending and proper care.

However, through ancient times, grieving was a communal effort. It was not something we did alone.

As a mother and pregnancy loss survivor, it is deeply important to me that no one walks through this ache in silence.

Each baby honored.
Each family held.
Even in the space of bearing the unbearable.
